I keep coming across custom book cover design services for self-published authors, but I’m not sure if they’re genuinely worth the investment. Some designers promise “market-ready” covers, yet their portfolios vary a lot in quality. Do self-published authors truly need custom designs to stand out, or can premade covers work just as well? How do writers decide which option brings better results creatively and financially? Has anyone here tried custom services and actually seen a difference in sales or visibility?
